As a web-based application, users may connect to vCommander® with a browser installed on the computer from which they are working. All browser should be configured to:

  • allow scripts to run.
  • allow pop-ups for the vCommander site.
  • accept vCommander as a trusted site.

For browser-specific settings, refer to the appropriate section below.

Mozilla Firefox

Embotics® always tests with latest available versions of Mozilla Firefox.

You may see the following error when attempting to access vCommander using Firefox:

An error occurred during a connection to <hostname>. Issuer certificate is invalid. (Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)

  • The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
  • Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

To resolve this issue:

  1. In Firefox, go to Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Under Application Basics, next to Profile Folder, click Show Folder.
  3. Close Firefox.
  4. Delete the file cert8.db.
  5. Restart Firefox. You should now be able to access vCommander.

Google Chrome

Embotics® always tests with latest available versions of Google Chrome.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Currently, Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, 10, and Microsoft Edge (experimental) are supported.

If you’re using Internet Explorer to access vCommander or the Service Portal, there are several issues to note.

Internet Explorer 11: Using the fully qualified domain name in the URL

To prevent display problems when using the fully qualified domain name in the URL (for example,, you must add the vCommander site URL to the Intranet zone:

  1. In IE 11, go to Tools > Internet options, and click the Security tab.
  2. Click Local Intranet, then click Sites.
  3. On the Local intranet dialog, click Advanced.
  4. In the field Add this website to the zone, enter the vCommander site URL and click Add.
  5. Click Close, OK and OK to close all of the settings dialogs.
  6. Refresh your browser.

Allow File Downloads in Internet Explorer

To download files and export information from tables to a CSV format properly, make sure that the Security settings in Internet Explorer are set to enable file downloads.

Use single quotes rather than double quotes in text boxes

If you enter double quotes in a text box, Internet Explorer will not display the text box contents properly. For example, if you enter the following text in the Edit Condition dialog:

#{target.state} –ne "Not running"

The next time you open the Edit Condition dialog, the “Not running” portion of the text is not displayed. The functionality is not affected; this is a display issue in Internet Explorer only.

As a workaround, use single quotes instead of double quotes. For example:

#{target.state} –ne 'Not running'

Other Browsers

While other web browsers such as Apple Safari or Opera Software Opera may include all the basic functions you need to work with vCommander, they are not quality certified to function 100%. Technical issues reported based on the use of the browsers may not be resolvable unless the symptoms are observable while using a supported browser.
